Dishonored's protagonist wasn't originally silent

Dishonored's sometimes stabby protagonist, Corvo, wasn't initially designed to be mute, according to the game's co-creator.

Speaking to OPM, Dishonored's Raphael Colantonio says that his team "added some text input options for Corvo around Alpha but never really went further.

"To this day, we wonder what the other version would have felt like in the game," he continued.

Many of Dishonored's detractors consider Corvo's 'tabula rasa' character design to be a detriment to the game. But according to Colantonio, the lead character's blankness was a "deliberate choice."

“If we portrayed Corvo angry and seeking revenge, it might offend the nonlethal player who is seeking a stable outcome for the City of Dunwall, and vice versa."

Other topics in the interview include Corvo's Blink ability, the game's tailboys, and how the whole thing evolved from being about "ninjas" to what it is today. If you dig Dishonored, go ahead and check it out.

But what say you? Would Dishonored be better if Corvo spoke up every once in a while? Or do you prefer the quiet?
