Forza Horizon SmartGlass App available on Windows 8

Microsoft has released a free app for Forza Horizon featuring an interactive map.

Load up the Forza Horizon SmartGlass Experience app on your Windows 8 PC to explore the map and set waypoints; your chosen destination will be communicated to your Xbox 360, and the game will provide new route details.

The app also shows the information shown on the in-game map like new races, discount sign, but now you don’t need to pause. Personally, when I want to look at a map, I like my expensive sports car to stop hurtling along at 200 km per hour, but that’s just my little foible I’m sure.

Although it’s currently restricted to Windows 8 PCs, support for “additional platforms” is expected soon – presumably Surface, and later Android and iOS.

Forza Horizon launched last week exclusively for Xbox 360.

A prime example of how Smartglass is a completely worthless boxticking exercise, rather than a useful product with a strategy behind it.

I too will have my car paused while I view the IN-GAME map, thanks.

But you can’t browse your in-game map by touch screen control.

Indeed.

Do I care?

No, not in the slightest.
