Primal Carnage launch trailer invites you to be a dinosaur

Tuesday, 30th October 2012 06:05 GMT By Brenna Hillier

I’m aware that Primal Carnage also allows you to play as a human but look at this trailer; that guy is a pteranodon. And that one is a raptor. There’s a tyrannosaurus rex running around the battlefield. I wash my hands of anyone who still wants an assault rifle instead of the full fury of reptilian nature.

The class-based multiplayer affair launched today, and goes for $15. It can be obtained from a number of fine vendors not the least of which is directly from its website; you can also visit Steam, GamersGate, GameStop and Rain.

Thanks, PC Gamer.

It’s actually pretty fun. And the T-Rex animations and abilities are as great as all that. I can’t help but wish that there were games like this with a single-player campaign, that focused on non-human critters for a change. But… that’s not likely. We all know how the mainstream fetishises familiarity.

All those Big Guns and manswords… I ended up bored of those early in my youth. We don’t get enough opportunities to be a dinosaur, a dragon, or whatever else. And that’s why I see the mainstream as painfully boring. Where did the wonder go?
