Tales of Xillia 2 boasts an interesting battle system in which the main character takes on another form in order to destroy an alternate world, but there’s absolutely none of that in its launch trailer. Instead, we have playing with cats; eating soup; sitting on swings, and silent conversations.
Tales of Xillia 2 arrives on PlayStation 3 in Japan on November 1; the first game has been confirmed for localised launch in the west in 2013. Both of them seem a lot more exciting than this trailer suggests, but the Tales franchise is routinely praised for its emotional characterisation and storylines so you can probably understand Namco Bandai Japan’s intentions with this trailer.
