Stealth Bastard Deluxe sneaking onto Steam in November

Thursday, 25th October 2012 10:01 GMT By Dave Cook

Stealth Bastard Deluxe, the game that chucks Metal Gear Solid and Super Meat Boy in a blender is heading to Steam in November, developer Curve Studios can confirm.

It’s a beefed-up version of the free-to-play version of Stealth Bastard – which you can play here – that will include a new level editor tool, 80 levels across eight worlds, new gadgets and according to the studio ‘lots and lots of new ways to die.’

In a statement, Jonathan Biddle, design director at Curve Studios said, “We were amazed at the success of the original Stealth Bastard,” “What was originally just an exercise in trimming the fat off existing stealth mechanics has grown into a phenomenal cult hit.”

“The free version of Stealth Bastard, was only ever a sketch; an incomplete vision of what we really wanted to do. With the new release on Steam, we’ve now been given the opportunity to build on the original’s foundations, and broaden the gameplay experience in every area. I can’t wait to plaster brand new grins across the faces of existing Stealth Bastard fans, as well as new ones.”

“Stealth Bastard Deluxe will be available next month, exclusively on Steam. The free version will remain available on stealthbastard.com, but will no longer be updated. It is actually free, rather than “free to play”, which very often ends up not being free.”

So if you like a challenge, stealth and – erm – bastards, then check it out when it hits Steam, or try the free version.

Hmm, I’ll get this in December but only from gog.com. I’m not supporting Steam anymore if I have an alternative.
