StarCraft 2 leveling system being introduced with Heart of the Swarm

StarCraft 2 is getting a leveling system with Hearth of the Swarm, according to an announcement from Blizzard.

Players will “earn experience while playing Blizzard matchmaking modes and custom games on Blizzard maps,” and they will earn XP for their chosen race, as well as each unit built or destroyed.

Experience will be totaled once a match ends, and each race has 20 levels to climb which will also net decals and portraits, with each reward becoming more specific and “epic” as race progression is acquired.

The system will be introduced with the next beta patch.

Thanks, PCGamesN.

With Black Ops II getting multiplayer leagues, and HotS now getting XP, it looks like StarCraft and CoD are borrowing ideas from each other…

@1 They had this with achievements in the first Starcraft 2 release. They’re just making the counter more visible this time around. Stop wailing on ActiBlizz.
