Nice to see but shooters of one form or another are still 11 of the top 20 games. Not that it needs to be one way or another, just saying.

Impressive. I knew it was popular, but damn they are breaking every record!:)

I hope Notch isn’t expecting any more ‘bags of money’ from this closed system of Microsoft’s…

looks like there could soon be 4 CoD titles in the top 10 for the first time (I think), though.

This makes me embarrassed to be a 360 owner.

@4 Notch doesn’t manage Minceraft anymore, and hasn’t for quite some time. Releasing the game on the 360 wasn’t his idea.

He has more money than he’ll ever need at this point. He doesn’t care.

    He doesn’t care.

And who are you? His spokesperson?

I remember showing my mate minecraft and I said to him it will be the biggest game on xbox if it goes to xbox. Glad to see that the hype of COD had died for 1 month until november lol.

Is this the first time an arcade game has ever been top of the xbox live activity chart?

It must be the 1.8.2 update (from 1.7.4) that pushed it up again. New things to do.

O’Conner is a person who edits his posts from 2009.. to say the least. He also thinks he’s a journalist.

Embarrassed to see Minecraft being that popular.

Indeed, I think a lot of people were itching for creative mode.

I don’t get the hype, you just build things, right? Occasionally get harassed by ‘creepers’.

Exactly, Minecraft is one of the most boring ‘videogames’ ever made.

Well deserved recognition of a developer continuing to supporting and develop their release post launch.

You can boil a lot of games down to the same. CoD – you just shoot things, NfS – you just drive things. It’s not a game for everyone, but not everything is. It’s incredible popular and engaging for people who it clicks with though.

I was similarly dismissive of it. Pffft, it’s just digital lego, right? Sounds boring.

That was until I played it. Then I lost about 6 solid weeks of my life to it.

It is incredible how a toybox with so few rules can feel like a complex living world, and give the player such a strong compulsion to make that world their own, unique place.

Me, I’m into glass towers and imposing rigid regular geometry on structures, because I’m terminally OCD. I have friends who farm, friends who like to spelunk in dangerous caverns, friends who build Bond villain lairs, friends who love building and riding railways…

Invite someone to your world, and it’s difficult to not follow them around saying ‘no, dont dig there please’ and ‘be really careful not to attract creepers, it’s getting dark outside and I just finished planting that flowerbed and settled the dogs down for the evening. Fancy a bit of cake?’

This will mean nothing until you have played it. Trust me though, it’s not hype. It’s just the most creative thing to ever hit gaming.

I’m fairly sure there’s a trial version on PC.
