007 Legends review round-up: double oh dear
007 Legends is out today, but don’t go expecting a return to the Goldeneye glory days just yet, as reviews suggest that developer Eurocom’s title is a confused take on Bond for the Call of Duty generation. Get all of the scores below.

IGN – 4.5/10
Games Radar – 2.5/5
OXM – 6/10
Giant Bomb – 2/5
Game Informer – 4/10
CVG – 4/10
SPOnG – 6/10
Got a score we’ve missed? Help us out by whacking it in the comment box below.

It’s your typical money grab game for the sake of the movie. I never would have expected it to be like the 007 game of old, so I’m not surprised.

Is anyone really surprised? They never get a decent dev with enough freedom to develop a 007 game.

It’s really disappointing. Activision could put sledgehammer or one of their precious COD studios on it to make an original and interesting game, yet they seem to refuse to do so. The property is worth more than its weigh in gold because so many of us grew up with GoldenEye..

Ah, Bond Games are tricky and as Publisher you do not want to have one of your “well selling” Devs to try and fail at that. Look at what SWTOR did for Bioware.

That won’t help. The whole problem with this game is that it wants to be COD. Another thing is that they think GoldenEye is the way to make a Bond game but it’s NOT!
GoldenEye was a great FPS game back in the day but it betrayed almost everything that made makes Bond films interesting. Heck, shooting / pure action parts have been the least interesting of most recent Bond films and GoldenEye type Bond games are just that: Mindless FPS action with a few gimmicky gadget uses. A true Bond game must be a mix between MGS and Alpha Protocol (AKA Espionage Deus Ex).

Simple way to make tons of money. Goldeneye N64 in HD the same way they did Perfect Dark. Don’t add extra bits to levels, don’t redo anything, leave it as it is but in HD and we will buy, obv add online MP. Goldeneye reloaded wasn’t what we wanted.

There’s a bevy of licensing issued they’d have to sort through first. Would be expensive and tricky.

Bond killed Bizarre Creations remember.
So no we don’t want a good developer creating a Bond title because its never ever going to live up to what the fans want it to be and then the Activision will shut them down.
So let Acti keep on pumping out dire Spiderman titles instead of giving it back to Treyarch, let them pump out awful Bond games its not as if anyone thinks a Bond title is suddenly going to be amazing anymore anyway.

It doesn’t matter how good the game is, even if it’s amazing Daniel Craig ruins everything.
Daniel Craig is no Bond.

Bond didn’t kill them. Small budget, rushed production and other external / internal conflicts killed it. Bone can’t kill any studio and it can’t make it. Bond is just a property. A license like Batman.
When used properly, we get Arkham Asylum or Dark Knight movie. When used badly, we get Batman & Robin movie or TDKR game.
