Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium has taken to Kickstarter to help fund the space simulation title.

You can donate through here. The developers are asking for $500,000 and so far 27 backers have pledged $1,486.

Cloud Imperium raised a little over $1 million through its official website, but the site wasn’t able to handle the traffic very well. The ultimate goal is to obtain $2 million total in funding with the rest of developmental costs obtained through angel investors.

LOL, I thought doing it yourself was SO much better? Grovel much?

Nah, really I’m interested in this game, I just think the situation is funny. Made such a big deal about doing the crowdfunding on their own, then their website went PBBBBBLLLTTTBBTLTTT and interrupted donations for nearly the first whole week. And I guarantee they’re not getting the exposure they would have otherwise had if they just went with KS from the start. They obviously figured out they weren’t going to raise as much money as they wanted to, hence why they started this up, as well. Hate to say I told you so…
