DOOM 3: BFG Edition not install friendly on Xbox 360

Should you be one of the half a dozen Xbox 360 users who remembers to install games to harvest a performance boost, don’t bother doing so for DOOM 3: BFG Edition. Besthesda told Shack News that there’s no benefit in installing, and more importantly, installing will actually lock you out of the copies of DOOM and DOOM 2 included in the package. Doom 3: BFG Edition is also available on PC and PlayStation 3.

Half a dozen? Does anyone with a big, fat HDD *still* play games from the grindy DVD? Really?

“no benefit in installing, and will actually lock you out of the copies of DOOM and DOOM 2″

WTF!? Why would you do that? Seriously, WTF Bethesda…

bwahahahahah that is hilarious xD but i would assume that simply uninstalling the game from the HDD would allow players to play DOOM 1 and 2 again, and if not, i lol at those people

Once again Bethesda fails at programming. Moreover the GAMING GOD id software with Carmack seems to be not so goddish they are trying to be.

“Once again Bethesda fails at programming”

Go and look at the DEVELOPER for this game, not the publisher, and come and rephrase that sentence.

Here too? Man, I would have thought that sort of ignorant idiocy would have been exhausted in all the Dishonored threads.

Ah well.

No Problem here. Just install Doom 3 BFG on HDD, leave the DVD in the X360 and start Doom 1+2 over the Dashboard at “My Games”. Only the Doom 3 Launcher is broken.

This game runs at 60FPS in 3D. How the hell is that bad programming?

@8, thank you. If that’s true, I may actually buy this someday. Heck, I will probably get it someday even if I can’t play D1 & D2 on the console. (It’s not like I can’t play them on just about any PC.) But install is a must for me on the main game. The DVD spinning, vibrating, making noise, generating heat–things of the past for me, and they’re going to stay there for the rest of that platform’s life.

It’s a very rare bird. It’s not worth the purchase on all 3 platforms.

Bethesda needs a smack round the chops, their approach to bug fixing is appalling.
I can’t comment on this game, but even Dishonored is suffering the most stupid crash bugs etc (not to mention Beth’s open world games).
Sort it out.
