Wednesday, 17 October 2012 20:47 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Call of Duty Elite will not be available for Wii U players when Black Ops 2 launches in November, Activision has confirmed to Kotaku.

“We are currently evaluating options for Call of Duty Elite to support Nintendo’s Wii U game system, however Call of Duty Elite for Call of Duty: Black Ops II will not support this platform when the game launches on November 13th,” an Activision representative said.

Yesterday the firm said it was working with Nintendo on the possibility of releasing the the shooter’s DLC Map Packs and the DLC Season Pass.

“Hirshberg also touched on the Elite’s prospects for Call of Duty’s debut this year on two new platforms: the Wii U and the PlayStation Vita. Hirshberg said Elite definitely won’t be integrated into Black Ops Declassified for the Vita, but left room for hope on Elite finding its way to the Wii U edition of Black Ops II.

“Our goal is to bring the Season Pass and DLC to Wii U, but we just need a little more time to work with Nintendo on some of the details,” Hirshberg said. “For the Elite services, this is something we’re looking into and evaluating our options, but it’s just too early for us to say.”"

Clupula, I doubt the “nintendo” crowd are too focused on CoD. CoD is why you buy a xb360, not a WiiU. Imo, anyways. Having games like this on the system is a bonus really, not a main feature or draw. I doubt the hardcore CoD crowd will care about the game being on WiiU either.

It doesn’t. Reggie and many other Nintendo / non-Nintendo people have claimed Wii U will get the best version of many multi games like Assassin’s Creed 3.

Plus Wii U must have the best version, otherwise what sane person would get COD or AC for that platform instead of 360 / PS3 (Where they already have achievements / trophies and friends). COD and multi games are the whole reason Nintendo was forced to release a Pro Controller and now Ninty fans claim Wii U fans don’t want COD…

@Clupula and Dragon: guys, where is all your stupid hatred coming from? you might have had a chance to clarify things and step back from some of the stuff you said earlier – but you chose to continue being a bunch of trolls forever obviously.

Dragon: what OG clearly said is that it is good for nintenod to have cod as well but it is not the kind of game people want/ need on a nintendo platform primarily and fans of the game will probably choose ps360 versions of the game anyway. that´s all. you know that but you only wanna hear what you wanna hear. you are nitpicking and trying hard to troll here yet again.

everything sony is gold for you. fine. but why don´t you stop trolling everything else ( esp. nintendo)? this only also makes your beloved planet sony look like a place wehre the fanboys live, y´know…

    #13 2 years ago
  14. Clupula

My hatred comes from posts like yours, actually.

And if you haven’t been paying attention if you think I believe everything Sony is gold. I’ve expressed how disappointed I am in the Playstation All Stars roster. I’ve been very harsh on Sony for the price of their new PS3 models. And I would never use a term like “Sony magic,” because it’s ridiculous to refer any company as being magical.

And I never step back from anything I say unless it’s been factually proven wrong. My opinions are my opinions and I don’t care who likes and who doesn’t. I just wanted to see if any of you guys would come here to find some way to spin this like you guys tend to spin everything else Nintendo.

    #14 2 years ago
  15. polygem

@ 14: you shouldn´t use “sony magic” because there is no such thing as far as i am concerned. thats a term reserved for some nintendo games. ms, sony (and others by the way) are trying to capture and mock it but they all failed yet ;) they just don´t have the secret (magical!!!) ingredients, or just don´t mix them correctly.

that said, i do not tend to spin everything else nintendo. i love games, i do not care about platforms and i never have.

this gen i truly think nintendo and ms played their cards best and i wondered a lot about some of sonys decissions about pricing, hardware (psp go) and not caring about their great ip´s enough (resistance BS)…i love their passion about establishing new ip´s though.

that´s not making me biased towards any company at all. i am just analizing how i feel about the game systems i own…

i am a huge halo nerd and at the same time sir daniel fortesque is one of my most beloved videogame characters of all time…(i don´t get why sony abandoned him though. it´s insane. sir dan could easily be the key to the sony magic they so desperateley seek – if executed right)

if you deny trolling every goddamn nintendo related article you can find…well then you are pretty much not very self reflected.

nintendo is in a slightly different market position than ms and sony who compete against each other in a much more direct way. sure nintendo wants as many people on their platforms as possible. this is business. it´s rule no. 1. get the people in. that´s why having cod is a good thing. noone said that nintendo fans do not want cod. but they certainly do not PRIMARILY want this kind of game experience. having cod on a wii u is just giving wii u users even more variety. having mario and cod on the same platform is a no brainer. it will work out great for nintendo. not everyone who plays cod is that interested in the mp or supercompetitve about the mp. still i am sure cod wii u wont sell quite as good as the ps360 versions, even if it would be the best version…the thing is: it doesn´t have to. it is a plus that it is available on that platform though…also: we haven´t seen much of miiverse yet, so mind you to judge that before it´s even here. what i have seen of it looked pretty good.

    @Fin:
you should read the post. it´s all in there so even you can understand it. copy paste it as well. don´t only hear what you want to hear. it makes you look stupid.

    @21

No, blind faith and an inability to see a publisher’s shortcomings make you a fanboy.

    [Edit: he stealth edited!]

Also, the fact you’re trying to spin this as not a negative – “they certainly do not PRIMARILY want this kind of game experience”, “not everyone who plays cod is that interested in the mp” – also makes you a fanboy. If your favourite company fucks up, have the balls to come out and say so, don’t defend them blindly.

    #22 2 years ago
  23. G1GAHURTZ

Nintendo fans definitely want CoD, and they want it to be better than the other console versions.

    No doubt about that.

I think we’re going to see a recurring theme here…

Nintendo start the hype train, the fanboys jump on, then when we find out that the hype has no substance, they all claim ‘we never really wanted it, anyway’.

    We don’t need CoD, anyway!

    We don’t need 1080p, anyway!

We don’t need a decent online system, anyway!

We don’t need detailed online stats, anyway!

We don’t need DLC packs, anyway!

    Wash, rinse, repeat, etc…

  24. polygem

WTF is going on with that stealt (Edit: stealth) editing BS! i don´t. i sometimes change some things right after i posted it, yes but because i made some typo, grammar mistakes. i am not native english speaking FFS. the essence of what i am saying is still there. i am not running away from confrontation here or stealth edit anything important. it´s just not true.

how is what you quoted fanboyism by any means. i don´t get it. who fucked up what?
again you take what you want and leave out what you don´t want.

    #24 2 years ago
  25. polygem

@G1GA: again: noone, repeat NOONE said that. i said it´s good for nintendo to have cod, didn´t i?
i just don´t think it needs to be some kind of suprerior version of it.

    btw:
i am really sick of being called a fanboy, owning and enjoying all the consoles myself , by guys who only play their games on one system.

    #25 2 years ago
  26. Fin

    @24

You were the one who started the fanboy thing – you said something like “just because I strongly like a platform doesn’t make me a fanboy” in your comment, but then you edited it out. That’s why I commented that you are a fanboy.

    Wtf, you JUST said above.
“even if it would be the best version”
    then you say
“i just don´t think it needs to be some kind of suprerior version of it.”

Don’t say stupid shit if you don’t want to be quoted.

Again, if you don’t want to be called a fanboy, don’t blindly defend a particular platform or publisher.

    #26 2 years ago
  27. polygem

just because i am strongly liking a platform does indeed not make me a fanboy or does it? maybe it just makes me strongly liking a platform…i don´t get your conclusion.

i do not “blindly” defend anyone.

again, you are not quting (Edit: quoting) very well. the way you are doing it is completeley putting it out of context.

let me do that for you then:

“i am sure cod wii u wont sell quite as good as the ps360 versions, even if it would be the best version…the thing is: it doesn´t have to. (Edit: see here, that tiny little difference you thought is not important to quote) it is a plus that it is available on that platform though…”

    and then

“noone, repeat NOONE said that. i said it´s good for nintendo to have cod, didn´t i?
i just don´t think it needs to be some kind of suprerior version of it.”

And who needs a “bonus”? Nobody.

btw, I don’t just play my games on one console, either.

    #28 2 years ago
  29. polygem

i didn´t mean you with that.

still i think what OG said here is true. it is impotant to have games like cod on the wii u but it clearly doesn´t have to be the main focus (Edit: nor the best version).

i am sorry but i just don´t get the conslusions you guys seem to get from that.

I dont know if this news is any indicative of something good or bad for the nintendo online infraestructure, i remember that nintendo said that the guidelines for their online infraestructure will be open, and that the developers will handle that on their own accord, therefore instead of blaming nintendo for this, or their second rate online infraestructure, also think about that is also possible that Activision has some fault in this, i mean is a new system with a new infraestructure like miiverse, therefere is also possible it will get more time to this being a reality, maybe it will be ready for their next COD game, but i know that sound crazy and preposterous to some commenters here.
edit: changed “for good or bad” for “good or bad for the nintendo online infraestructure”

    #30 2 years ago
  31. Dragon246

    @Poly
Its not my fault if you only comment on ninty and ms articles and miss my criticism of sony. You on the other hand, have never said anything but sugar coated things about ninty, maybe due “ninty magic” that exists.
Lets be clear here, so you mean to say ninty consoles shouldnt be bought for 3rd party games, biggest of whom are shooters. If thats the case, consider wiiu dead meat. No console survives without 3rd party support (wii being an exception, and exception are rare). Even ninty knows that thats why they released the pro controller, cuz 3rd party wont push for a new tech just cuz a company says them to do so.

    @30
Just no. This is not a fault of activision. Its like blaming ea or acti for putting bad games on vita(which sells next to nothing now). It just shows 3rd party arent too hot about wiiu, except ubisoft. Console manufacturers are mostly responsible for internet infrastructure now, if ninty leaves it on 3rd parties for online support, then online will be shit, just like the ps2 where sony left online on 3rd parties.

    #31 2 years ago
  32. ManuOtaku

#31 well thats certainly a valid way to look at it dragon, but i do think they had some fault in that, like a marrige the fault is most of the time 50/50; i do think they dont care about the WiiU for a number or reasons, they now the effort is not worth it, especially if you look into sales numbers, were the major of their retail is from 360, i think money wise is a fair move on their part, and also because of just the way some avid gamers thinks regarding the WiiU, especially COD players, when they do consider PS3 a lesse experience, even though they have an stronger online compare to nintendo, maybe when the COD numbers on WiiU will hit almost the same level on the other two, then they will make the effort, therefore it will be also a thing of time here too.

And also i dont think having an open multiplayer system is bad nowadays, maybe back then in the ps2 era it was, but now it might also have strong good points about it, is to early to tell, i will wait for the console arrival and a good consolidation time in order to pass any judgment.

@GIGA, that was a interesting link. Being able to use the WiiMote sounds great! I wonder if the PS3 version will utilize the Move?

Why would any sane person buy AC3 or CoD on a console box in the first place?

@Dragon. i do not only comment on ninty and ms articles and i said it is good if the wiiu gets third party support. how can you say i said the opposite.
i said that i don´t believe a cod wiiu version will sell as many units as the ps360 versions that must not mean that i believe sales will be bad nor does it mean that i believe that the wii u doesn´t need 3rd party support at all. nintendo is quite strong with their exclusives though, more than the other two, that´s true. i do not know how you read my comments but you definitley tend to read them differently than i am writing them.

@34 Why wouldn’t they buy them on a console box?

Why can’t all the format be perfectly valid?

You buy for what you own. I don’t see why it needs to be anymore complicated than that, frankly.

    @zinc:

Yeah, that’s actually what got me (and many other people, I’m sure) hyped about the Wii before launch.

The possibility of quick mouse-like accuracy on a console, with the added realism of actually being able to point at the screen like a real firearm.

The reality didn’t turn out that way though.

Despite the apparent potential, CoD on Wii actually turned out to handle at a snails pace compared to other versions on high sensitivity. That’s because you need two fields of movement to control an FPS, one for your vision and one for moving around.

The Wii only provides one through the thumbstick on the nunchuck.

The only way to provide the second one is by having a bounding box in the middle of the screen which switches between controlling precise aim and controlling head movement depending on where the WiiMote is pointing.

So in practice, you’re either continually trying to correct your aim by ‘oversteering’ on the edges of the screen, or you’re moving as little as possible so that you can use precise aim more quickly.

Here is an example from Wii Black Ops: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXDbemB4_lE (Notice the constant adjusting, even though this guy is clearly very proficient at the game)

    and the 360 version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DSFUMN09Kw

    That was kinda my point.

At the level of anal detail comparing the three console versions why not just get the PC version instead? Why limit yourself to hand wringing about pointless shit like this?

@AZ because it makes some folks feel better about themself to put other folks down. And what is really sad is that we are talking about toys here.

What I said stands: CoD isn’t going to be a system seller for WiiU. For you CoD fans, ask yourself: Were you going to buy a WiiU just for CoD? How many folks do you think are going to buy the WiiU just to play CoD?

Games like CoD and 3rd parties in general, are just added bonuses when it comes to Nintendo platforms. Too much gets made of them, in most cases.

If you only want one system, and that system is a WiiU, and you enjoy CoD games then it is a score for those type of people. But, because some folks wanna “put it in your face” when it comes to WiiU/Nintendo, they think this news is a big deal. Most Nintendo fans won’t care. Most CoD fans weren’t buying the game on a WiiU anyways.

Plus keep in mind acti didn’t say they wouldn’t bring elite to WiiU, just that they needed more time and had things to work out with Nintendo. Here is another bit of info to keep in mind when it comes to 3rd parties being on Nintendo systems. they don’t sell. And that backs up what I am saying to begin with. The Nintendo published games almost always outsell 3rd party games. It will be interesting to see what the sales of CoD are on the WiiU, I doubt they will be system leading.

I swear some of you look for anything and everything to put down Nintendo with.

  41. Da Man

Yeah, while it makes other ‘folks’ feel good by using comment sections as their inane blog.

I bet those 100 million Wii customers were all die hard nintendo fans.

    Good grief.

  42. G1GAHURTZ

Yeah, some folks just love spending their time putting others down.

Using the same words again, and again, and again, and again, like some sort of sick, old aged parrot.

They don’t care about so many things when it doesn’t suit them.

    How sad.
