MechWarrior Online open beta delayed by stability concerns

Mechwarrior Online's long-awaited open beta has been pushed back after closed test participants raised concerns about the game's state of development.

The open testing was supposed to kick off on October 16, but Prianha Games has announced a delay.

"We have decided to push Open Beta back. We agree that the game's current state of stability is not allowing us to get the latest experience across to new and veteran players alike," lead designer Paul Inouye wrote on the sim's forum.

Inouye said only that the delay would be "short", providing no further dating details.

Responding to specific complaints, Piranha has issued a patch hopefully addresses some unpleasant lag issues, and gave an update on how it intends to improve the new player experience and balancing. Hit the link above for more information.

The free to play combat game, which follows the MechWarrior canon in real time, is expected to launch this year.
