LAN support for League of Legends will not be made available to the general public outside of tournaments, Riot has confirmed.

According to a tweet from Riot VP of eSports Dustin Beck: “We built an offline solution for the Finals for the pros to be protected from Internet connectivity issues. There are no plans to develop a LAN mode for offline play at home / LAN centers. Just wanted to clarify for everyone.”

Riot announced LAN support over the weekend for the Season 2 World Championships Grand Final between the Taipei Assassins and Azubu Forst, the former of which won.

Now why can’t they develop an offline mode for casual users? No matter which server I hop onto I can’t get a ping below 160, it’d be nice to be able to reflect on my personal skill in realistic environment.
