Xbox Music rolling out from October 16th, 30 million songs at launch

Xbox Music, the new audio streaming service from Microsoft will begin rolling out across global territories from October 16th, giving subscribers access to over 30 million tracks from day one. Find out how you can get involved below.

Xbox Music will become available on Xbox 360 consoles from tomorrow, and rolls out across all compatible PC, tablets, Microsoft smartphones and Windows 8 throughout October.

It's a cloud based service similar to Spotify, that offers free and premium memberships. There is a free version that comes with adverts on Windows 8 PC, Windows RT PCs, but the ad-free service will cost you £8.99.

There is no free version on Xbox 360 consoles, only the paid subscription. You can also buy individual albums or tracks from the Xbox Music store, and later this year you will be able to create cloud-stored playlists that can be accessed from any compatible device.

“The launch of Xbox Music is a milestone in simplifying digital music on every type of device and on a global scale,” said Don Mattrick, president of the interactive entertainment business at Microsoft. “We’re breaking down the walls that fracture your music experiences today to ensure that music is better and integrated across the screens that you care about most — your tablet, PC, phone and TV.”
