Transformers Universe trailer confirms it’s still a thing

Monday, 15th October 2012 03:54 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Transformers Universe is an MMO from Jagex which I frequently forget exists. It sure does though, and while we don’t have any new details, a gameplay trailer did sneak out of New York Comic Con. Check it out through the break, courtesy of GameSpot, and head on over to the game’s website to sign up for beta as either an Autobot or Decepticon ahead of an expected late 2012 launch.

Thanks, Massively.

I like the Transformers as much as anyone, but… that was a tremendously bad opening for a trailer.

Of course there’s war. There’s always bloody war. It would actually make a difference if there wasn’t war. At this point, mentioning war in the vast majority of games is redundant. And in this one, mentioning war is about as pointless as saying hey, this game has giant robots, if you hadn’t noticed.

And that doesn’t really fill me with confidence for the proceedings. See, I like cheesy and corny, but this is the wrong kind. It’s the cheap and lazy kind. I … can’t say I have much faith in this. Looks like a ‘for the kids’ cash-in.

Would have been helpful if it didn’t look like crap. And I’m talking about the aesthetics here as much as anything else. It looks like a badly rendered version of the Prime cartoon, which in turn looked like a badly rendered version of the actual War for/Fall of Cybertron games. (Seriously, what did they use for Prime? I still can’t forget those blurry textures.)

If only it was High Moon handling this…
