League of Legends hits 32 million players, 'as big as StarCraft in Korea'

League of Legends developer Riot Games has unveiled a raft of statistics on the game's success, stating that it has now hit 32 million active players a month and more mind-boggling stats.

PC Gamer reports that Riot's statistic infographic makes for impressive reading, with over 70 million summoner names created by players, 32 million monthly active players, 12 million players a day, and more. Check out the document here.

PC Gamer also notes that the last time Riot Games released LoL stats into the wild was in November 2011, when the game had 11 million monthly active players, marking a significant leap in player base since then.

Speaking with the site, LoL pro RapidStar stated that, “League of Legends is as big as Starcraft now [in Korea]", adding that it is,"still new and still growing and only going to get better.”
