iPad Mini reveal pegged for October 23 – rumor

Invites to Apple’s rumored iPad Mini event were supposed to roll out on October 10, and according to a source speaking with All Things D, the event will take place on Tuesday, October 23.

Rumors earlier in the month pegged the reveal for October 17, and most tech sites feel the event will be held at Apple’s Town Hall in Cupertino.

However, while Apple tends to hold smaller events in Cupertino, an iPad Mini reveal would not be a small matter, so many are pegging the reveal to occur instead at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

We’ll let you know if we hear more rumblings on the matter.

Thanks, Ars Technica.

I could be wrong, but I’m convinced that this iPad mini stuff is purely the invention of tech blogs looking for hits, and has no substance to it, whatsoever.

@1 I feel the same way. Now that I have expressed it as such, it will likely be “a thing” because, you know, Murphy’s Law and all that.

Why would you need a mini-ipad, if say you have a iPhone? Surely the size difference would be negligible?

@3 It’s actually not.

As someone who owned a Galaxy Tab 7.1 at one point, the size sits in a rather interesting medium. It fits in one hand in a very comfortable fashion, that the standard 10 inch tablets simply don’t, without ever feeling too small.

Although I prefer the iPad myself, the “mini” tablet size is certainly much larger than a phone, and uniquely comfortable to carry.

@3:

There would (if the iPad mini actually existed) be a significant difference between an iPhone and an iPad mini.

A bit like the difference between it and the Galaxy Tab, as shown here: http://www.mrgadget.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/RIMG0054-2.jpg

Worst decision Apple ever made in regards to mobile market, if true.

In addition to ugly, needlessly huge phones Samsung like to make we now apparently have needlessly small tablets.

@1 – i agree with this, plus i don’t see how a device like this fits in with apple’s lineup.

There’s also a rumor-mill that an upgraded version of the iPad 3 powered by A6 processor will be announced during the event..
