@1…yeah, a shame really. i loved the first one. played the hell out of the mp too (postgrab mode was ace!)
LP1 wasn´t flawless and it had a confusing story too BUT it had great artdesign, it was fun and had huge potential……….then they released 2….
i really do hope 3 will be a great LP game. not sure what to think about making it a lost planet gears of dead space mix but it doesn´t look bad if you ask me. i am definiteley interested in it. it still has the potential for a great capcom ip and they obviously also think so or they wouldn´t bother to give it another try with LP3 now.

Wanna see more of DmC too. Great franchise!

7 min something…great voice acting actually!

i hope that they´ll stick (ha!) with reloading by pressing the right stick and rolling by pressing left stick and A (360)…that was lots of fun, i really loved that setting and missed it in other games ever since!

Which LP1 Version should I pick up PS3 or 360?

definiteley the 360 one! the ps3 version was ported really badly. no ps3 bashing here but with this one the 360 version really is the better choice.
the game might look and feel a bit dated today and the story is kinda cheesy – still it´s lots of fun. forget the xbl demo. that is a very old and unfinished build they used for E3, 5 or 6 years ago…i am replaying some 360 games atm and LP, even though i played through it twice already, will be among them for sure. to me it will always be among my top 360 games, but that´s probably just because i really enjoyed it when it came out and i really liked the mp too. i can see it´s flaws, but to me it is one of those games where it didn´t really annoy me at all. the pirate fortress mp map is branded in my brain. it sneaks inside my mind several times every winter. strange stuff -but true. to me this is a classic game despite the mediocore reviews it received. somehow i just love it despite it´s flaws. it´s just a charming little videogame with lots of snow levels and i always had a soft spot for snow and lava levels :D

i have to add to my post #3: the bumper speed turn was great too. button layout was very nice and on the 360 pad it really felt fun and natural despite some clunky charakter animations.

i think this very short review nails it:

Classic Game Room is one of the best videogame related channels on youtube by the way imho…

If you are limited to just a console then try and get the Colonies version of LP 1. If you can play it on PC get that instead.

I really liked Lost Planet 2 it just choose the wrong franchise to play about with (much like DmC I suppose). All the multiplayer was in place but changing it over from a single player stupid fest to a Monster Hunter co-op stupid fest never really worked. It was still a blast with 4 players despite itself, much like Borderlands 1 and most other 4 player co-op games.

Some of the greatest stuff is completely obscured in the second game, it takes loads of playthroughs in order to even find out about some of the more obscure things like playing with the VS’s mecha power rangers transforming abilities or the secret routes.

LP3 looks like it completely lacks its own identity, everything that made the previous two games what they were appears to have been excised and something completely generic and Dead Space put in its place. It looks staid and boring and safe.

@7: i thought the changes they made for colonies in the mp dep. were awful. i´d personally always recommend the standard version of the game.

i agree that LP2 was good if the mp coop worked as intended…but this really only worked if you had 4 friends (real friends) playing the game with you or if you were very lucky with your coop partners. also i didn´t like the level design in 2 as much as i did in the original LP. imho they made the game worse in almost every way. to me it was probably the bigest let down this gen. seriously. i loved 1 that much. i wanted a great sequel with an epic single player. i couldn´t believe that they made a very mediocore 4 player coop only game with 2. it was such a stupid decission and they payed for that.

that said i understand that you feel like LP 3 is losing it´s own identity with what we´ve seen from it so far and this was my inital reaction as well when i saw first gameplay! i thought: now they totally ruined it for me, what a shame. when i watch the gamplay though, i can still clearly identify it as a LP game. especially in the boss fight in this vid. some gameplaymechanics and the artstyle is clearly Lost Planet. there are huge changes, no doubt- i mean does it really need a cover mechanic etc?…but i am not sure if it might even be for the better…we´ll see. i am definitley not counting this game out. but maybe i am just hoping ;)
