League of Legends Playoffs cheats fined $30,000

Riot Games has completed its investigation into reports of cheating at the League of Legends World Playoffs, finding one team guilty as charged.

Riot investigated all five incidents and detailed its findings on the MOBA's forum.

The developer concluded that team Azubu Frost did glance at the main screen and check its opponent's minimap, and that it modified its play based on this information.

The team has been fined $30,000, which is 20% of what it has won so far, which will be donated to a charity in Korea, as per Riot's rules.

The match's outcome is not believed to have been directly determined by the cheating, so the result has been allowed to stand.

Of the four other incidents, Riot found three guilty of "unsportsmanlike" behaviour, but as the players involved didn't take action based on knowledge so gleaned, Riot chose to issue warnings and leave it at that. The final incident is believed to have been a response to glare issues.

The playoffs were also marred by technical issues; some matches have been rescheduled.
