I will get this game i do like the fable series and i hope it does handles well like the good kinect tittles like the gunstringer and kinect sports.
p.s Steph has an eye for picking the pics for her topics, looks like beating a dead horse, i wonder if it is intentional

I thought the demo was truly, truly awful.
Linear QTE games do not belong on Xbox, that kind of garbage gets lapped up by the Playstation cronies but we’re used to less restrictive games.

It’s on-rails! Wow. Remember when Lionhead Studios said “It’s not on-rails.”?

Indeed. I can’t wait to hear how they justify this total about-face.
I really hope this flops. A message needs to be sent: Keep this linear semi-interactive shite off the Xbox.

What a shame. There’s probably a nicely told story behind this awful, laggy, repetitive arm-waving experience.

Peter Molyneux said it, and that’s because the man is full of shit. Nice and friendly man or not, that’s just bullshit.

It’s becoming more and more obvious that Kinect was nothing that a $150 beta test for MS. Gamers that bought Kinect gave $100 to $150 ALONG with tons of data to MS for an finished product.

@7 – but this IS Microsoft Gadz!!
They convinced the world that this was the next big thing in the gaming industry, and you mugs all bloody bought one! BE THE CONTROLLER!
That’s how big a shit MS give about gaming and the people buying their products.

There are a fair number of high quality games for Kinect that control well. Kinect Sports, Dance Central, Wrecketeer, Happy Action Theatre, Yourshape, Leedmees, Child of Eden for example all work very well.
The Journey just isn’t one of those games, not because of Kinect itself, but because it’s the wrong type of game for Kinect.

I don’t comment much on here, but I reset my password and logged on again just to say bravo to @12 Dave Cook’s inclusion of a modern Eurovision classic on this board.

I don’t understand how certain reviewers can give this piece of crap an 80+ score. A good story and good graphics don’t make a good game if the gameplay sucks. Kinect just doesn’t work for core games, how long should it take before MS admits it?

It’s nothing to do with being ‘core’ or not. It’s about an interface that works.
Wreketeer is as core as it gets. Getting golds in each stage is bloody hard because of your strategy, not the controls. It controls perfectly and precisely, coping with swapping people in and out at will. Shot placement, multipliers/mods and shot type choice make the game ‘core’.
Devs need to understand that Kinect will never be able to do free moving 1st or 3rd person cameras, and work on games that suit the interface instead of trying to jam Kinect into popular genres.
It’s just that simple. Dont push square pegs into round holes.

They will never admit it.
And yet if they swallowed their pride and released a small off-hand control-device similar to this (http://bit.ly/QQQnyg) they would most definitely be able to do the things #21 is rightfully saying they cannot.
But no. Ignore the fact that it would finally make Kinect more than just a platform for shovelware party games and stick to your MAGNIFICENT VISION Microsoft. Only when sales of Kinect finally stop will they admit that ‘core games’ (in their own words) were not possible, despite years of them promising just that.

Ge0force – have you played the game? Bit unfair to judge if you haven’t completed it.
I’ve just finished it and thoroughly enjoyed it. It has some of the best Kinect implementation to date, which might sound like it’s damning with faint praise, but I get the impression that certain gamers simply aren’t willing to give it a chance. It’s the rare case of a game being designed around the limitations of the tech, and for the vast majority of the time it works perfectly well. Kinect’s inherent spottiness spoils things on occasion, but such moments are rare, and never overwhelmingly frustrating.

@Gadzooks: for once I agree with you ^^
@Rudderless: I got bored before I even finished the demo. There’s almost no variation in the gameplay, and the whole damn game is on-rails. Without the limitations of Kinect, the game could have been so much better!

I wouldnt call physical QTEs a good implementation of Kinect – I’d call it the very worst.
Take Leedmees as a good Kinect example. It’s essentially Lemmings, but the level design includes you – your body is an obstacle/vehicle for the little fellas.
Want to move them quickly? Push them. Want to hoik them over a barrier? Just raise or lower the bit of you they are walking on.
Brilliantly intuitive, totally free-form, lag-free and free of any gesture-based QTE gaming.
Games which work on the principle ‘make this gesture to perform this action’ generally just dont work, or have big lag.

I agree that a physical co-controller would open up a lot more genres to Kinect, but I’d also argue that designing games around Kinect would be a better approach in most cases.
Having been through WiiMote, Move and Kinect gaming with my regular Friday couch crew, it was immediately apparent how much easier a multiplayer session was with Kinect. No wrist straps, no flat batteries, no synching controllers, just step up and raise hand to calibrate. Fast and fuss-free.
Core games do already work very well with Kinect if they are designed properly.

I do like my kinect, dance central, kinect sports, the gunstringer, wrecketeer, all of them are great experiences and work really great on the gameplay department, i dont have much complains about kinect, only that there is not that many games for it, i am really interested in the panzer dragon kinect game, in a very big way.

i don´t have kinect and i am not really planning to buy that. i loved fable 1 and 2 though. many people didn´t enjoy fable 2 but i loved it. one of my fave games this gen, seriously. the mood and humour in this game and the combat system….it was a fun game. then 3 came out and it was horrible. couldn´t connect to that game at all. was glad that i finished it – no desire to ever pick it up again. shame. in retrospective it think molyneux fucked it up for a reason so he would get out of his ms contract

@ geforcedipshit: how can this have good reviews. by not having dual standards even with your phonybot persecution ailment. Shit like Heavy Crap can have reviews by being a completly bad game, with bad gameplay, story and full of plotholes and horrid caracters. then this can too. deal with it.

On-rails needn’t be a bad thing in and of itself. The likes of Ghost Squad and Sin and Punishment are on-rails and they’re amazing.
