Minecraft vs World of Warcraft: Azeroth recreated to scale

Monday, 8th October 2012 14:05 GMT By Dave Cook

World of Warcraft’s Azeroth has been recreated to scale by a keen creator. You can download the whole damn thing right now, but be warned, it’s going to cost you a lot of hard drive space.

The recreation of Azeroth can be downloaded over at the Minecraft Forums, but it requires 24GB of your precious hard drive space. This is because the map consists of – wait for it – 68 million blocks.

Yep, someone buy creator Rumsey a beer.

Thanks PCGamesN.

@1 “Blizzard you are lazy.” You think!? It took them 11 years to create Diablo 3. It took Runic 2 years to create Torchlight 2, which is twice as fun.

edit: And Diablo 3 still sold better. Talking about sheep mentality.

@1 and 3 – Please read the description given by the creator… “The creation of the map is heavily automated, assisted by custom software that I have developed.”

TL;DR – It was automated… He did NOT build this, software did.

I thought most people were aware of that these days.

I still think it’s a pretty good job, but it’s not nearly as awesome as the Game of Thrones world.

    Mind blown.

He still created software that did it for him. That is still an achievement.
