Bungie's Destiny to contain sandbox elements

Destiny, the latest title in the works at Bungie, is going to either be a sandbox title or have sandbox elements, according to the developer.

\\

Speaking in the latest Mailbag on the site, the firm noted the "sandbox" elements to the game when it was mentioned former Rockstar designer Danny Bulla was hired on.

"We liked Red Dead Redemption so much that we hired Danny Bulla to come here and help us fill your next sandbox," said the firm. "He’s doing some amazing work and, so far, he hasn’t tried to lash any of us to a pair of railroad tracks."

Looking over Bulla's LinkedIn profile, it notes Bungie hired him back in April 2011, so he's been there quite a while already.

Bulla was a senior game designer at Rockstar Games San Diego, where he worked on Red Dead Redemption and it's Undead Nightmare and Mode packs.

Before that, he was a game designer at Midway and worked on Blacksite: Area-51.

The Bungie post also notes Destiny will feature sounds effects which required the firm to enlist an "entire orchestra of artists" to create.

Still no word on when to expect the title in 2013, but the firm is currently scouting beta testers for the project.
