Mists of Pandaria sells 2.7 million copies during first week of launch

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria sold 2.7 million copies during its launch week, prior to the release in China on October 2, proving a boost to the subscriber base which now sits at over 10 million.

The development team is already working on the first major post-launch content update, with further details, including features and release timing, to be provided in the weeks ahead.

Last week, Lazard Capital Markets estimated Mists of Pandaria sold between 600,000 and 700,000 at retail during launch week.

Earlier this week, analyst firm Brean Murray, Carrett & Co felt digital sales weren't being taken into account, as over 1 million purchased one year premium subscriptions to WoW which were bundled with Diablo 3.
