Xbox Music to launch alongside Windows 8 later this month – report

Xbox Music will launch towards the end of the month, according to a report on The Verge.

Multiple sources familiar with the matter said the service will launch alongside Windows 8 on October 26.

Subscriptions services similar to the Zune Music Pass will be available as well as a free streaming service similar to Spotify, supported by ads. It will also support Microsoft’s SkyDrive, which will allow users to store playlists and music to the cloud for use across multiple devices.

The service will be available on Windows Phone, Windows 8, and Xbox 360. Sources said the service will also be available on Android and iOS, but not immediately.

I really hope that the service will be on Android and iOS. I currently use Spotify because I can access it on iPad, my computer at work, my Windows Phone and the iPhone of my Wife. So I will switch to Xbox Music only if I can access it on all the devices of my family :) Let’s do it MS !
