Art of Video Games attracted over 600K visitors

The Art of Video Games exhibit drew punters by the droves during its stint at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Curator Chris Melissinos revealed on Twitter that 686,406 visitors had attended the show. The count was made by volunteers manning the doors.

The Art of Video Games opened in March and was on show at the Smithsonian for six months.

In addition to highlighting 80 games from 40 years of industry history, it was punctuated by special events like a talk from Hideo Kojima; his Metal Gear series was one of the featured products.

Featured games were chosen through public voting and an advisory board.
