From what I gather, the game is set-piece after set-piece with many MANY Quick Time Events. So, in others words, they’ve taken the worst parts of RE4 and 5 and made a HUGE game with it.

Anyone got any questions about how the game plays, first read my ‘unreview’

Then ask me questions in the comment thread. Happy to clear things up for you.

@12 as a fan it irritated me constantly. Just such a mess from start to finish. The shame is there are some real moments of brilliance, especially when you first venture out into the city. Feels like you’re playing Resi 2 again but in 3D. Then the NPCs arrive…

holy shit!!!!!!! Finally a game that can truly be called divisive.

    Reviewers I am so proud of you to finally use the whole 1-10 scale and to have the balls to call it out on the pos it is ;_;

So… No Hope Left for Resident Evil then? *trollface*

Yes, long-time fan of horror and Resident Evil. The demo was atrocious, yet fun in the MST3K style humor my friend and I shared while dragging through heavily uninspired mediocrity. The controls are what Capcom got right, but failed all else. I wish Japan stayed isolationist and refused to compromise proven formula for Western design.

I’m still hoping to love this. I’m in it for the split screen co-op.

Who even cares about game reviews any more? They’re a joke and they always have been. This is currently sitting at 70 on Metacritic. A review aggregate most films, TV shows, albums, and books would be very happy to get. But in the world of gaming a 70 is bellow average, and for a triple title to score a 70 it must be absolutely awful, yet it will still land a few 90+ scores.

lol@gamespot they give the same score as Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City .. what a joke

i’m playing the game right now and i’m enjoying every second of it.

A prime example of more employees doesn’t make a better game. THey employed 600 people just for this game to make it “better” and look at the reviews. The game looks to be a hit or miss for reviewers.

Just as expected, Capcom lost its way with RE in terms of survival horror. Thats that then.

Recent awesome Fatal Frame 2 remake on that trash Wii console reminded me just how far this survival horror genre has fallen over the last decade.

Lack of resources and others made RE the game it was before. If you look back at the escence (guns, explosions, blood and monsters), it always wanted to be this: AN ACTION GAME FEATURING ZOMBIES AND HOT CHARACTERS. Prove me wrong. Times change, so do products. Slender scares you and it’s practically a non-budget experiment, Silent Hill now is shit but has millions of bugdet. Humans will never be happy, will never be understood. Enjoy what you want to enjoy, leave alone the rest.

To be honest this is’nt the first Resident Evil to get a drubbing and even before then the games that got shat on more or less came through with a fanbase of their own. The Outbreak games, Gun Survivor, even Code Veronica to some extent.

Both of the demos felt at no time like the game has any sort of pacing what so ever. Theres no direction to most of the events, at its best Resident Evil 4 was an amazing roller-coaster that knew exactly when to let off a little and give you a breather.

I guess everyone with any sort of talent OR sense really have left Capcom. Also Silent Hill is dead. Also Project Zero is a Nintendo series.

Resident Evil is dead to me and I have said enough about why it never worked this gen. It’s all because they game lacks perspective, there is no creative vision behind it, it became more of others and less of the factors that defined Resident Evil. I already cared too much, bah…

RE 4-5 creator, please come back! Bring back Excella! I’m ready for her. I’ve grown. I’m not a child anymore! Rebecca says with RE 6, she’s unsure if she can do her best having to deal with the awkward controls, camera, and menu system.

WOW! some of those are extremely harsh! I played both of the demo’s and it seemed ok to me. But I think they just tried faaar too much. Like the saying goes quality over quantity and that surely was not their motto when making this game!
