Karateka gets release date for XBLA

Karateka, the remake of the 1984 side-scrolling beat-’em-up by Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner will be releasing in November.

The November 14 release date date comes courtesy of a listing on Xbox.com.

The game is in development by Liquid Entertainment and will be published by D3Publisher. PlayStation Network and Wii U versions of the game are also in development, and should be releasing around the same time as the Xbox one.

The game lets you embark on a task of rescuing a kidnapped princess and requires you to do a lot of one-on-one battles which become more challenging as the game progresses. Sounds fun.

The website’s also posted the first screenshots of the game. We’ll save you the trouble of clicking through by posting them below.

This game always makes me feel ashamed because as a die hard Mechner fan, I should have played it a long, long time ago. Anyway, hopefully that add the original game as a bonus / secret mode.
