Metal Gear Solid movie stars Solid Snake, Kojima on board in supervisory role

Thursday, 27th September 2012 15:07 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

The Metal Gear Solid movie which is being produced by Avi Arad through Sony Pictures will star Solid Snake, and not Big Boss.

According to Hideo Kojima, speaking during his developer session at Eurogamer Expo today, he is not directing the film or writing it, but is instead on board in a supervisory role.

At one point, Arad and Kojima considered Hugh Jackman for the role, but instead decided to cast an unknown actor to play Snake.

They wanted someone who will make a name for themselves in the role instead of an actor who is already notable.

Kojima says Arad is good at finding new stars so hopefully they’ll have good luck in casting.

‘Hugh Hackman’ of course best known for his roles in movies such as ‘Beverly Hills Chop’, ‘The Slashed and the Furious’ and ‘Hack to the Future’.

Should just make it a CG movie.

Classic series’ like this are dangerous territory for live-action movies, imo. Resident Evil being a prime example of how it can go horribly wrong.

I am disappointed to say the least. Big Boss saga is much much better than solid snake one imho.

A genetically enhanced special forces unit codenamed FOXHOUND has lead an armed uprising on a remote island in Alaska. This island, codenamed Shadow Moses, is the site of a nuclear weapons disposal facility. The terrorists are threatening the U.S government with a nuclear reprisal if they do not receive the remains of a legendary mercenary(upon which their genetic enhancements are based) within 24 hours. Former FOXHOUND soldier Solid Snake is forced out of retirement and is dispatched at the request of an old comrade in arms, Colonel Roy Campbell, to penetrate the terrorists’ defenses and neutralize the threat. It quickly transpires that there is more to these terrorists and his mission than he ever thought possible.

seriously, if i wouldnt know any better, this sounds like the synopsys to any Dolph Lundgren or Steven Seagal movie…
