EA purchases Battlefield web and mobile app developer

Electronic Arts has snapped up the company that produced the Battlelog web and mobile app for Battlefield. While terms of the deal are yet to be announced, its clear the company is looking to increase the amount of online connectivity in its games.

ESN are based in Sweden, and produced the Battlefield 3 Battleog that has proven so popular over the past year. It allows access to voice chat, matchmaking, forums, statistics and leaderboards on PC and mobile devices.

The service is to be used in EA’s upcoming Medal of Honor and future titles. ESN will now focus all of its energy on working with DICE.

Thanks, Gamasutra.

Well there’s the Popcap studio in Dublin closing, which Popcap explicitly said was their decision.

Oh, and there was the Mass Effect ending controversy at the start of the year, where some people thought they knew better than Bioware (not EA).

Oh, and Syndicate back in Feb.

And, uh, what else?

I think you people need a big corporate entity to hate.

just search on here for all the EA job losses and studio closers. So essentially are creating zero new jobs. And I personally couldnt give a shit about the game fuck ups, but EA’s track record of buying up a studio, sacking those staff(the reason why that studio became a success in the first place), installing EA drones, studio becomes unsuccessful, studio closed.

The history is there and you can sugar coat it all you want Fin but you cant change history.
