Tokyo Game Show 2012 boasts record breaking crowds

Last week's Tokyo Game Show broke all past attendance records to takes its place as the event's most successful year to date.

223,753 visitors attended the expo, organising body CESA announced, as translated by Gematsu.

It's not much growth from 2011's 222,668, which was a fairly impressive step up on 2010's 207,647.

As usual, the show ran for four days - two for business and media, and two open to the public. Saturday September 22, the first public day, proved the busiest, drawing in 94,989 visitors. That at least is a definite jump on 2011's busiest day - a crowd of 86,251, also on the Saturday.

Next year’s Tokyo Game Show will be held from September 19 to September 22, 2013.

We sat the TGS out this year; the exhibitor list didn't ring our bells, and over 70% of all the games on show were mobile or tablet. But given Pat's predictions regarding a new crop of hardware reveals in 2013, you can bet your booties we'll be in attendance next September.
