3DS XL isn’t available in white over at retail in the US due to it not being a very popular color, according to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.
Speaking with IGN, Fils-Aime said a white version of the portable may pop up in a limited edition run someday though, so there’s still hope.
“You might see a limited-time offer with a white or silver 3DS XL, or we might colorize it slightly differently,” he said. “But in terms of an ongoing SKU, the consumer has responded in our marketplace and said that, for a handheld gaming device from Nintendo, that kind of white or silver doesn’t sell nearly as well as blue or red or even pink.”
At launch, North America and Europe received the Red/Black and Blue/Black models of 3DS XL ans those in the UK saw a Silver/Black model appear on shelves.
For now, the only region with a permanent supply of the color white is Japan.
