Diablo 3 developer entry notes changes to defensive bonuses and monster damage

Friday, 14th September 2012 21:12 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Diablo 3 update 1.0.5 has been given another sneak peek by Blizzard, and this time, the blog post focuses on defensive bonuses and monster damage.

Changes to a few defensive skills for each class and “nerfs to skills like wizard Energy Armor and barbarian War Cry – Impunity.” Incoming damage in Inferno will be reduced, and other reduction changes include: “the effectiveness of select defensive skills,” and “monster damage by more than the mitigation lost by these skills.”

Basically, players will take less damage than before because “by simultaneously nerfing defensive skills and reducing incoming damage, players who choose to continue using these defensive skills will take less damage overall, and players who choose to forego these mandatory skills will find themselves more survivable than what you would currently experience on live.”

There’s more to it though, and we honestly think Blizzard explains it better than we ever could, so just head on through the link to read it for yourself.

You know they have to learn to speak in plan english. I honeslty can’t make heads or tails of these bits most of the time. Can’t they just say we made players take less damage?

I find it interesting that they they seem to make the game eaiser and easier. The one thing I recall complaining about the most was how hard it was when it came out. So at least this is validation for me. I know some folks say they have no problem, but I die every time I turn around. And frankly got bored of it. Most of my group of friends and family that I played with have all quit too, same reason. Too damn hard.

Not exactly. They are reducing monster damage and also nerfing some known “must have” defensive abilities. Two changes that (hopefully) will allow players to use other builds.

It’s OK. Torchlight 2 is out soon, right?
