Nintendo have announced Cave Story will see a release date of October 4 on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

A remake of the classic indie PC game, Destructoid report the game will include new features, 3D visuals in a true widescreen presentation and some new challenge modes.

The title will also be available on the same day for DSi, obviously without the 3D effect, from the DSiWare Shop.
