Neo Geo X portable offered as standalone alongside Gold bundle
If $200 is too much for you to splash out on a Neo Geo Gold, you can grab the core portable at a reduced price.

As detailed on the system’s website, the Neo Geo X portable device at the core of the Neo Geo Gold bundle will be available in a standalone package.
It’ll go for $130 and come pre-loaded with 20 classic games when it launches in December. It has a 4.3″ LCD screen and a slot for new games; only one has been announced so far, Ninja Master, and it’s only confirmed for Japanese release.
The Neo Geo Gold bundle will be $200, and come with a docking station and replica arcade stick. You’ll be able to hook a second joystick up to the base for local multiplayer.
Thanks, Joystiq.

Why not just get a PSP at a fraction of the price and run a NeoGeo emulator, surely it’s powerful enough to run them right?

I think it’s more a fan service thing.
Much how I’d leap on some authentic looking Sega console.
