They really blew me away with The Walking Dead.
Sam and Max looked terrible and played underwhelmingly. Monkey Island ditto. A lot of one-man developers make better adventure games than that.
I had pretty much written them off, so I was really shocked by how much I like The Walking Dead.

I can somewhat see where DSB is coming from, although I think he’s being a bit *too* harsh on those games.
I’ve enjoyed pretty much all of Telltale’s stuff so far. I think they did a genuinely great job of the comedy in Tales of Monkey Island especially. But there’s always been something very… stilted about them
I think a lot of it had to do with the quality of the animation – up until the Walking Dead, it always felt extremely stiff, awkward and lifeless looking. That took away from the experience a bit in those games, in my opinion.
The Walking Dead blew that completely out of the water though. The game is nothing short of astounding, in every respect.
