Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Snake pic confirms youthful beard
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes includes some fancy lighting which makes Snake look a bit elderly; this new picture shows off our hero in the glory of his prime.
When detractors proved ill-content with Hideo Kojima’s explanation, the creator asked one of his staff to render a familiar Ground Zeroes image without night-vision goggles, and tweeted it out to fans:

That beard is almost as epic as my own.

Can’t believe they went to the effort to do this. It was obvious from the original render than his beard isn’t white.

Okay, then this makes it more likely that the kid in the cage is Chico. Because with how white his beard looked in the trailer, it looked like he had aged 10-15 years.

I’m still confused though. Why is he wearing MSF patches when in the trailer he had FOX patches on? My head hurts from trying to figure everything out.

@9 – I’m confused too… BTW, after Peace Walker FOX shouldn’t even exist, am I right? Zero disbanded it. Weird stuff :X

@9 FOX wasn’t disbanded, technically more like they gone rogue and Big Boss took over again. Since he established MSF, FOX’s logo was on their uniforms, it’s nothing new here, FOX was no longer part of CIA and U.S. Government, a rogue special force that existed wherever Big Boss operated. Until he was back and recreated that special force unit under the name of FOXHOUND.
Remember after Operation Snake eater, Big Boss and Zero both officially retired themselves, and worked underground to build the patriots. All part of the grand scheme, so Zero didn’t disband anything, it was a CIA operation gone rogue during the Portable Ops .

@12 – But even in Peace Walker there was MSF logo on our uniform. And GZ is set after Peace Walker. So… Why FOX logo here?

As a long time memeber of the US military and Metal Gear fan, maybe I can answer your question. It’s not uncommon for a soldier/Marine/airman to wear patches on their uniform showing their alegience to a former unit, even while wearing their current unit’s patch. I belive that’s what’s going on. Or it could just be that Big Boss has both FOX and the MSF, but I think that’s unlikely.
