Blizzard hosting official global launch events for Mists of Pandaria

Tuesday, 4th September 2012 14:26 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Blizzard will host several official global launch events celebrating the release of World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria starting on the evening of September 24.

Retail partners in the US, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain, Sweden, the UK, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Taiwan will be hosting the festivities where members of the World of Warcraft development team will be on hand to meet players and sign copies of the game.

In the US, the launch event will take place in Southern California, near Blizzard headquarters at Giant Wheel Court at the Irvine Spectrum Center starting at 9.00PM September 24.

Attendees will get to see a stage presentation as well as participate in activities, giveaways, and a “challenge-mode challenge” between Blizzard employees and members of the community.

“We can’t wait to meet up with players around the world and celebrate with them at the official launch events,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. “A lot of hard work and long hours went into making Mists of Pandaria a truly epic expansion, so we’re really looking forward to coming together and having some fun with the community before everyone takes off for the new continent.”

In addition to the official US launch event, other retail locations around the country will open at midnight local time to support those eager to pick up the expansion as soon as it’s available. Check with local retailers for further details.

I would get this day 1 and see if it’s worth reactivateing my sub but it comes right in middle of borderlands 2 and FIFA 13 whilst I’m playing guild. Wars 2 now and getting armored kill for BF3 in a week, too busy will have to wait until next year.

And my understanding is that you can play the New Panda zones and roll a Monk even if you don’t buy the expac. So basicly, it seems to me, that the expac is only going to feature new end game grinds?

I have that year long annual pass(got it when they bundled it with Diablo III), so I am thinking about trying the new race/class and sticking with GW2.

@#2 – That is incorrect. You will need the Xpac to roll a monk. You will also need it to play in the new areas (All of Pandaria). You are correct that you will not need the Xpac to roll a Pandaren though. So you can roll a Pandaren of any class (other than Monk) if you do not have the Xpac.

@1 Day one? I already have it! da-bum-dis! being a fan of raiding and group activity, this was always the perfect game for me. too grindy but that’s the nature of RPGs, you have to work hard to progress in a RPG game.

I really like the changes in Mists of Pandaria. Currently I’m sneaking into Battle.net to be able to play. But, I like WoW and I wanna play it however I can.
