Guild Wars 2 topped the UK game charts last week. ArenaNet’s MMO knocked United Front’s Sleeping Dogs off the top spot.

Been trying to get a physical copy of GW2 for the missus and it’s sold out absolutely everywhere I tried.

Ah well, probably best to let the launch dust settle a bit anyway, and let a couple patches hit.

I’m not really suprised, kinda taught it was gonna be a best seller, since its been hyped alot for a while.

That’s quite some achievement. Where are people finding retail copies of PC games in the UK! Those can’t all be online sales, can they? No sign of Dark Souls again. Hopefully, they’re doing good digitally.

Yeah this is baffling, well done to GW2. The only other PC game I can think of that topped the charts this year was Diablo 3.

@6 yeah, every bugger pirated it. It makes you wonder why Namco even bothered releasing the PC version … not taking into consideration it may have been a badly made version. It could have been the best version with 1080p visuals and jaw dropping effects etc… and no matter what, it would have been pirated by the vast majority of people the game was aimed for. Shame really, no wonder they didn’t bother doing much to sort it.

…and don’t start spouting ‘oh I blame GFWL’ bull that people normally pull out. It makes no sense. GFWL is fine as it is, shame that it’s bombed like it has done.

Looking at that chart, just shows how stale the market is. Hell, even Football Manager 2012 is #35!

@12 – indeed. But right there is the problem with the industry. Everyone will be fighting for the xmas dollar with the likes of FIFA 8billion, Bored of Duty 4million, (insert name of generic title and add number here) games..

Arena has proven that you CAN have a summer blockbuster and on a so called ‘dead’ format.
