Final Fantasy dating sim is an elaborate joke

Square Enix had a bit of a laugh at fans' expense over the weekend in announcing a dating sim called Final Fantasy: Suzaku Magic Institution Peristylium ~ Oh no! I’m in Love With the Crystal’s Divine Guardian.

Final Fantasy Type-0 and Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday director Hajime Tabata presented the non-existant mobile title to audiences at the Final Fantasy 25th anniversary celebrations in Tokyo.

The presentation drew mixed reactions from Japanese and western fans alike, to say the least, but was later revealed to have been a joke.

Tabata went quite far with the prank, showing off concept art and character profiles, which you can check out on Andriasang.

To replicate the experience, watch the captured presentation below while wearing your chocobo hat, clutching your Cloud Strife action figure and having a rage fit about how Games Are Art.

Final Fantasy: Suzaku Magic Institution Peristylium ~ Oh no! I’m in Love With the Crystal’s Divine Guardian should definitely exist.
