Zynga loses two more senior executives – rumour

Friday, 31st August 2012 07:27 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Zynga’s exsanguination of talent continues, according to Wall Street rumours.

Bloomberg cites “a person with knowledge of the matter” for word that two vice presidents have left Zynga.

Bill Mooney is Zynga’s vice president of studios and general manager of FarmVille, while Brian Birtwistle is a vice president of marketing; both are said to have resigned, although the departures have not been made public.

The rumoured leavetakings follow on from the apparently amicable parting of ways between Zynga and chief creative officer Mike Verdu, as well as Cityville general manager Alan Patmore’s defection to Kixeye.

Mafia Wars 2 lead Erik Bethke, mobile VP Ya-Bing Chu, and general manager Jeremy Strauser have also left, along with former EA executive and Zynga COO John Schappert.

“Zynga’s voluntary attrition rate was around one percent for the first four years, and our current attrition levels are not only below what we expected and modeled in our post-IPO planning, they continue to stay well below the industry average,”Zynga representative Dani Dudeck said in a statement.

Zynga’s last financial report showed the publisher performing well below expectations, and its stock has fluctuated on a downward trend in the weeks since.
