Fuse – Insomniac’s Overstrike has been reworked, renamed
Insomniac Games has renamed and reworked Overstrike, its new shooter in the works, which will from here on out be referred to as Fuse.

The firm’s founder Ted Price announced during his PAX Prime keynote today a new IP called Fuse, which Polygon noted looked “similar to Insomniac’s already announced shooter Overstrike.”
Game Informer went live with a post confirming that Fuse and Overstrike are indeed one and the same, and that the game has been reworked since last shown to the masses.
Fuse has a website available, but for the time being it only shows a countdown clock which looks to expire next month around September 11.
Insomniac Games announced Overstrike during E3 2011 and little has been heard about the game since, until today.
Back in June, EA said it skipped showing Overstrike at E3 2012 in order to give it more polish before showing it to the press. According to EA Labels president Frank Gibeau the game would “stand out better later in the summer once we’ve hit some key milestones and we’re able to show off more.”
Fuse is a first-person, four-player co-op shooter and is without a release date at present.

Above the counter to the right it shows ‘Overstrike Data Mode in very small (and blurred font)’.
Are you sure this isn’t Overstrike renamed?

@2 Not sure just yet. Just going by the only information available at present. While I tend to agree with you – until it’s announced I can’t say that in the post – but it’s hinted at no?
I also think the artwork shown is pretty much a dead giveaway at that.

Yeah totally understandable. And yes I would think this is Overstrike considering the game hasn’t been shown off in public (apparently) since it was announced last year.

Of come on, we need more games with names starting with an “O”. Anyway, I think EA/Insomniac have done the right thing in pushing this further away. It really wasn’t that interesting a year ago, save for the main character’s sense of humor.
I have a feeling that, they are gonna have a new character for some short campaign missions and bring whatever they showed last year as a stand alone co-op campaign.

Ted Price calling it a new IP. You’re fooling no-one Ted. We all remember last year you know. Of course it may not be a four play co-op shooter anymore. It may be a generic space shooter in the form of something else. Hopefully Insomniac show us a game. We’ll find out when the website counts down to zero I suppose.

this multiplat? ea is publishing it then? they wanted to go multiplat with their next games didn´t they. didn´t follow that closeley because i do own every system anyway but would consider a wiiu purchase of this game. insomniac created some of the best videogame weapons ever. i really like their games. i find this news pretty great.
