DayZ creator discusses how companion dogs will work in the next update
DayZ creator Dean Hall has shown IGN how companion dogs will work in the ArmA 2 mod with the next big update to the game.

In the video interview below, Hall discusses why the companion animals, German Shepherds, have been on the back burner for a while: they won’t attack or be attacked by zombies.
Hall said the team didn’t want to the dogs to be “required by players in order to advance,” because in the end, the game is about the player’s story and Hall wanted people to be able to play it in various ways.
If you watch the video, which runs just short of 40 minutes, you’ll see a bit of gameplay and hear Hall discuss tactics.
DayZ is being developed as a standalone title for PC, and should it do well, Bohemia Interactive hopes to release it on consoles.

“they won’t attack or be attacked by zombies.”
So what’s the point?

@1 It plainly states that’s why the dogs have been on the back burner for a while – he said he needs to add the stats in. The patch won’t be released for a while just yet. Give him time, he’ll get it going.

The preliminary patch notes link you provided is fake. I mean, the linked thread is a fake patch notes post written by a troll.

@4: “Trust no one” is a rule you can apply to both Day Z and the Internet i guess. XD
