Guild Wars 2 grouping fix incoming, ArenaNet responds

Tuesday, 28th August 2012 10:42 GMT By Dave Cook

Guild Wars 2 early access players encountered a slew of connections issues over the weekend, including a grouping bug. Developer ArenaNet has promised that a patch is being worked on as you read this. Read the full statement below.

The ArenaNet statement explained, “We currently have a couple serious bugs with one of our important back end systems. This error is causing the loss of trading post, players to sometimes be separated and unable to travel to each other when switching maps and entering overflow servers, and numerous guild errors. We are very sorry for this inconvenience and are currently working around the clock to try and remedy this error.”

“When this bug is fixed overflow servers will keep parties together and players will be able to travel to the same overflow server as any friend or guild member who is in an overflow.”

VG247′s Dave Cook is also keeping a journal of his Guild Wars 2 journey. You can read part one here – Guild Wars 2: a noob’s journey – part one.

Thanks RPS.

Its a huge worry that in my case, the trading post is broken. Despite several stress tests and beta events which saw it working well, albeit extremely slow – to the head start when everything went south.

I’ve already spent around £40 on Gems, just to buy extra bank slots and more bags. Come on Arena!! Fix this today, PLEASE!

Hm, I always thought that you should at least have 7 days of stresstest to really drive out most of the bugs, especially bugs like these.

Then again, with games nowadays, people will have seen what they want to see in seven days and nobody would buy your game.

Every MMO launch is bound to have issues, even if there was a beta test. Beta tests are often smaller in size than the launch could ever be. So it’s bound to happen that these bugs only show up at launch. At least ArenaNET doesn’t deny it like Blizzard did when they had a few issues =)

@3 haha but you are on an enemy server :-p

I am still stunned the at the sheer depth of the game and some of the clever elements – like certain crafting mats can only be obtained if you complete some quests.

Enjoying the game and thus far for me, it hasnt felt like a grind fest.
