Final Fantasy Dimensions expected by month’s end

Final Fantasy Dimensions has been given a solid smartphone release date, according to Siliconera.

The retro nostalgia fit was originally released episodically for Japanese feature phones, but has been given a graphical overhaul is now headed to Android and iDevice on August 31.

It’s not yet clear whether the date applies to both platforms or just iOS, and whether that’s the western launch window as well as the Japanese one, but Square Enix did mention the RPG in its E3 materials, so we can probably expect it locally pretty soonish.

According to a statement given to Kotaku, Final Fantasy Dimensions will be delivered episodically, with the prologue free. The first chapter will run you $2.99/ £1.99/ €2.39, chapters 2-4 for $9.99/£6.99/€7.99 each, or you can get the entire collection of chapters for $28.99/ £19.99/ €22.99.

That seems awful fucking expensive for a mobile game with SNES era graphics.

I bought Rainbow Moon for under a tenner on PSN for fuck sake.

Rehashes of ancient juggernauts aren’t exclusive to mobiles, I still have an unnecessary copy of Chrono Trigger with ‘extra cut scenes’ for PSX.
