MLG Summer Championship kicks off this weekend

Major League Gaming's summer championship is gearing up for kick-off over in Raleigh, North Carolina August 24-26. With a prize purse of around $215,000 and including games like StarCraft 2, Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur 5, it promises to be a barn burner.

The StarCraft 2 event sees legendary players Taeja, Marine King, and Violet taking on challengers for a whopping $25,000 top prize, but all eyes will be on the League of Legends heats, which come with a prize pot of $40,000. Twelve LoL teams will be thrashing it out for the big win.

Elsewhere, Soul Calibur V and Mortal Kombat will have prizes of $16,700 each, while aside from the MLG bouts, the StarCraft II World Championship North America finals will be going on, with a top prize of $60,000, and the chance to represent America at the World Championship Finals in Shanghai November 17-18.

Big money, big prizes. It's going to be a big one and you can watch it over at the MLG feeds.
