‘Metal Gear Rising skipping PS Vita due to lack of power’ – Kojima Productions
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance isn’t being considered for a PS Vita launch, according to Kojima Productions creative producer Yuji Korekado. The reason? – It can’t handle the game’s free cut blade mode.

Speaking with Eurogamer at gamescom last week, Korekado explained, “As of now we aren’t considering a Vita version. The reason is one of the main appeals of Metal Gear Rising is this option of the free cut.”
“That requires a lot of hardware power, which is only possible with the power of a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. So as of now, we haven’t contemplated bringing it to handheld consoles,” he added.
Free cut is powerful however, allowing players to slash through almost anything but buildings at will, which does require a great deal of hardware grunt, so Korekado’s comments make sense.
VG247 also interviewed Korekado about Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance at gamescom, and learned more about why Platinum Games was brought on board.

This is not even ordinary MGS. It’s like Bayonetta with MGS breed. And seeing games like MGS: HD, Unit13, Uncharted, Gravity Rush, etc – yes, Vita can handle even Skyrim with dumbed down graphics.

As this project seems to be made in a modified version of MGS4′s engine, it was rather clear that it would be too much work to optimise it for the Vita.
The Fox Engine, on the other hand, and future Koji Pro games may come for the Vita.

Future…. Vita…. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t have one. Hell, it’s hardly even here in the present.
