PopCap expecting lay-offs and shake up - rumour

PopCap staffers are looking over their shoulders today following comments from 3D Realms co-owner George Broussard suggesting a round of job cuts is on the way.

"Sources say shakeup and layoff's are imminent at PopCap," the Duke Nukem creator said on Twitter, refusing to answer further queries.

A quick check of the usual suspects reveals no further whispers of the rumoured lay-offs.

A later tweet suggests Broussard believes EA will restructure PopCap to meet a company wide production model.

PopCap was acquired by EA in August 2011 for $750 million. At the time, EA and PopCap sources said the casual publisher would continue to operate as normal and largely independently, while EA would supply teams to develop ports, allowing for more rapid multi-platform releases.

PopCap's most popular properties include Plants vs Zombies, Bejeweled, and Zuma.
