Cross Buy restricted to Europe for now, says Yoshida
Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida has said Cross Buy – a scheme which awards a free Vita version to those who purchase a PlayStation 3 game – is currently only confirmed for Europe.
The Cross Buy initiative was announced during Sony’s gamescom presentation as a formal initiative backing up past efforts with games like Motorstorm, wo players need buy just one copy of the game to enjoy it on both systems. Sony has approached third-party publishers about Cross Buy participation, and EA has said Need for Speed Most Wanted could be a Cross Buy title.
Elsewhere in the interview, Yoshida wasa sked how the Vita is doing in Europe, and seemed optimistic but realistic, noting that the hardware is popular but users want more games and better system functions. He said hardware bundles are part of the company’s future strategies.
The executive proved cagey on the topic of Japanese releases for new games revealed at gamescom, confirming only the Studio Japan-developed Rain and Puppeteer for local release.
