EA labels president has “seen both” PS4 and next-Xbox

Thursday, 16th August 2012 14:14 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

EA labels president Frank Gibeau has decided to tease the masses by stating he has already laid eyes on the next-generation of consoles from Microsoft and Sony.

During his opening keynote at gamescom 2012 attended by Gamespot, Gibeau spoke about free-to-play becoming the dominant pricing model “by the end of the decade,” and showed off Command & Conquer, running on DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine.

But you want to hear about next-gen not F2P games, right? Right. Continue on then.

According to Gibeau, he has “seen both” the new PlayStation and Xbox models and how the gaming systems will change the market.

“Ten years ago we used to measure our market in terms of 200 million people,” he said. “Now we are at a billion people playing games and we have a straight line view on 2 billion.”

Gibeau said EA plans to spend $80 million on next-gen this year alone, which further indicates EA has indeed seen the new machines, otherwise, they wouldn’t be pledging such a large amount of money on phantom hardware.

Microsoft has stayed rather mum on the subject, with the only confirmation that something is tucked under its sleeves being a a cease and desist order regarding leaked documents pertaining to “Xbox 720″ back in June.

Meanwhile, SCE UK boss Fergal Gara told MCV last month the firm would remain “committed to retail,” as it would be an important factor for the next PlayStation “whenever the next cycle,” of consoles landed on the market.

If only the real console will look like that picture, i want more consoles in the style of the gamecube,as much as it did look like a toy i did like it a lot, and this picture pushes all the right buttons too, but is wishfull thinking.

I hope next-gen consoles are able to differentiate themselves enough from present hardware so as to justify their buy.

We need PROOF Stephany Nunneley, is it possible that you can wear contact lense that been used in “Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol” and make an arrangement to visit PS3 & Xbox, to make pictures of the next generation with a blink of an eye, don’t worry VG will give ya flash-money, and a flightticket first class and car-rental and hotel cost :D

all you have to use Stephany Nunneley is ya charm and most of all be very slick, im pretty sure Sony & Microsoft will let you in, im pretty sure you have to hand over your smartphone, but you already have ya contact lenses on, good luck dear, we will wait when you come back with loaded of the next generation console pics… and post it here on VG24/7, if both company ask “where did you get those pics” you will be in fully denail, and blame the other game-sides… LMAO!!!

Anyway, this early the “consoles” are just going to be devkits – like the Durango devkit sold on eBay, just looks like a PC.
