Sony forced to “re-do” work on The Last Guardian
Announced in 2009, Sony’s long-awaited title is still being working on.

Sony worldwide chief Shuhei Yoshida spoke to Eurogamer earlier today, and confirmed the studio has encountered a few hitches along an already lengthy road.
“The team is still working on it very hard, there are certain technical issues they’ve been working on,” he explained. “That’s the period of time when the game, looking from the outside, doesn’t seem to be making much progress. But internally there is a lot of work going into creating the title.”
“At one point we felt that it would be produced for a certain time period. That was the time we prematurely talked about the launch window. But it turned out the technical issues are much harder to solve. So the engineering team had to go back and re-do some of the work they had done.”
With this said, Yoshida did confirm the game will arrive on the PS3.

Better to put out the product as it should be, then to rush it. Kudos to them.

Yeah, announce some big name killer software to sell the system and then start recreating everything after six years.
Really well done. Let’s see if you can hinder the X720 sales even more by announcing GT6 and The First Guardian next year.

I’m excited that they’re taking their time with this game. I have no intention of buying a PS4 until there’s, at least, 20 must-have titles for it, so it’ll be nice to get this in what will probably be the last year or two of the PS3.
Some of the best PS2 titles came out when the PS3 had already been available for some time.

I’m with the same mindset as Clupula, PS4 will not be day 1 purchase for me at all.
but @1 has a point, I rather they take their time and release an awesome product.

Price points depending, I too will be holding off on buying a next gen system. If their prices are low enough(prolly 250usd or less), I might spring for one. But I doubt that will happen. And I am not droping 500usd+ for a new system. Beit Sony, MS or Nintendo.
Better to just wait for price drops and a build up of quality games.

As far as I’m concerned I have at least a year until I’m ready for TLG. Toooo many games
yes OG, take their time indeed.

Re do what?! Just move this over to next gen for fucks sake. Their must be something that’s salvageable?
The only that I would think may need to be redone is the gameplay mechanic which almost certainly feels stale after being in development limbo…
That and the control system if their other games are to go by…

This must be an expensive mofo by now. I really hope the best for the game.

@9 The control systems in Team Ico’s games are great *because* of their awkwardness. They were designed that way on purpose.

This is one of the most stupid things I think I have ever heard…
You should re-read that and think about it carefully…
I didn’t knock the emotion they conveyed or the art direction and style, but the control sucked, especially as the PS2 couldn’t handle the ambition of something like SOTC (framerate etc…)
For someone who wishes to focus on gameplay in gaming, control is the first thing to focus on…
Bad control just doesn’t help, no matter how much you try and pretend it was a design choice…

Bad controls kill a game dead, simple as.
However we’ve seen no gameplay yet and have no idea how it will control so it’s too early to judge.

@13
Of course, but they have struggled before and the gameplay shown so far looks like it follows the same ‘loose’ animation style from previous games.
Coupled with the PS3 pad, that’s a bad combo… Loose sticks and loose animation are news IMO…

@5: Yeah, holding off on buying a PS4 also. I mean, this time around it worked out great. I held off until summer of 2011 and then played over +20+ PS3 games. Uncharted, Killzone, God of War. God, so much happiness in those weeks. You know, the first couple of weeks when getting new tech? Oh boy.
If I bought PS4 Day 1 then there’s little chance of my PS4 surviving until the end of its cycle which means I would have to buy another one to play those great games that comes at the end of a cycle.
